Gareth Overton wins ‘Wild Song’ songwriting competition 2026
Wild Song is a new songwriting initiative from the team behind the 48 Hour Film Project. Twelve songwriters took part in the inaugural event, held at Leith Depot. Gareth's brilliant song, ‘Getting Over Going Under’, has been recorded at SoundSound Studios and a video will feature in the Wild Song Film Fest at Cameo Cinema, Edinburgh, on 12 March.
Gareth also won Edinburgh Folk Club's 2025 Songwriting Competition with his song ‘It’s All Happening Tonight'. You can check it out on our Instagram!
Overton & McCann are an Edinburgh-based indie-folk duo. Warm, close harmonies are the backbone of their sound, rounded out with acoustic guitar, piano and trumpet.
Festival, folk club and house concert sets are original material with a couple of standout Americana / folk covers.
